As you progress through your pregnancy, you may be

  • wondering where to give birth and how best to prepare for it.

  • feeling pressurized by the medical system to do things that do not feel right to you, such as induction.

  • anxious that your partner won’t understand your needs and how best to support you.

  • fearful of what is ahead especially if it's your first baby or if you’ve had a difficult prior birth experience.

  • feeling disconnected from your partner or wishing that they knew everything you have read about but finding it hard to share it with them.

As the partner you may be feeling

  • unclear as to your role in the birth and how best to support your partner

  • afraid of becoming a parent and of the changes a baby may bring to your life.

  • irritated about being told what to do!

Don't worry, all these feelings are so natural especially when it's the first time as it's hard to know what to expect!

To help you save time and access the best information in a clear and concise format, I run a 2 day private birth preparation workshop designed to help you both feel:

  • ready, connected and excited about the birth of your baby.

  • empowered when communicating with your caregivers so you remain in control of your birthing process.

  • clear about what you can do to create the best conditions for the birth and post-natal time by learning the most useful aspects of hypnobirthing, active birth and acupressure massage.

“It was precious to have someone with such enthusiasm, sensitivity and in-depth knowledge to come to our home to prepare us for having our first baby. Julie covered such a breadth of information, all of it so fundamental, and looking back, I used so much of it!" IZZY

"Baby Frank landed on Friday via gentle planned cesarean, due to his breach position. He hadn't been able to change position because the cord was twice around his neck! Healthy, calm, beautiful birth. A very positive and joyous start with amazing midwife team. All of us are doing well. Thank you again for your workshop - it helped us advocate for what we wanted the birth to be under challenging circumstances and still enjoy the process, I am enjoying the full benefits of the placenta smoothies prepared by (partner) Tom and (birth partner) Sarah thanks to your instructions. SARAH AND PAUL

‘I attended Julie’s Birth Preparation workshop in August 2016. My mother and my partner accompanied me during the day’s session.

Julie had thoroughly prepared every aspect for an expectant mother, ranging from the practicalities right through to the emotional ups and downs and how to deal with them.  I found Julie empathetic and intuitive when dealing with my mother and my partners’ concerns. She was patient, kind and knowledgeable, and really empowered me to follow the birth I wanted.

We all left the workshop feeling much better prepared for the big day.

I am now the happy mother of a beautiful daughter, and I found great joy in experiencing a totally natural childbirth. Julie’s help and advice was simply invaluable, and I recommend her to any expectant mother.’

IZZY AND JOHN

Izzy: “It was precious to have someone with such enthusiasm, sensitivity and in-depth knowledge to come to our home to prepare us for having our first baby. Julie covered such a breadth of information, all of it so fundamental, and looking back, I used so much of it! From breathing in labour to homeopathy to help me heal afterwards.

It was amazing to use the room we wanted to birth in, with my ball, cushions on the floor, dim lights – just as would want it in labour. To practice feeling into how to incorporate being with my partner in this space. To see what the room could offer us, different ways of using the space.

Julie very skillfully opened up a space for sharing and releasing any fears about the birth or becoming parents. This was very profound. Very healing. I also felt she prepared me for any eventuality. I felt at peace with the possibiity of going to hospital, even though I wanted to birth at home. She helped us to prepare for this practically too – what to pack, ways to make the journey smooth and safe and to protect my birthing space on the journey to hospital.

My baby was born at home. I know that I am lucky, but I also know that Julie played a really important role in preparing me to deeply trust and relax, ready for anything. So when labour came, I knew, that whatever was going to happen, we were ready and packed up with love and support. I cannot thank her enough.

John: “I’ve repeated many times to my close ones the effect of Julie’s birth prep day here at our home. From start to finish Julie was beaming with knowledge and energy, she is obviously very passionate about birth. This made me feel totally at ease to ask anything that came up for me during the day’s discussions. I found the workbook, with its useful reminders, tables & diagrams a great guide for the day and having it to hand during labour was a god send….more than once! By the end of the day I actually felt like I had a good idea of what to expect, going through scenarios in the space you intend to have your baby was beautiful. You will undoubtedly come away from a day with Julie with some gems of information, a list of things that will keep you human throughout labour and an overwhelming sense of excitement about the imminent arrival of your little one.”
